on Hellisheithi, where they destroy land and where Saving Iceland has a camp

i have been on Hellisheithi now for a week... or since Sunday and its again Sunday today the 20. of July 08 and its been hard but interesting. I have newer been to a "action camp" or that's how they "define themselves" many of those I met up there under a bit specialised conditions of being in a training in both how to talk to each other and make a decision together and to practise tactics on how to carry out the task of "disturbing" the exploitation of Iceland. Really nice people those I got the opportunity to talk to, very honest and with a strong since of righteousness and willing to fight corruption. Young most of them and full of energy, perhaps also hurt and a bit angry on a deeper level but a lot of natural love also.
It is not easy to describe the feeling and the situation and the experience being both with this people and this nature of the land I am born in and have lived in for most of my life but not seen for 9 years except briefly and now so much misused and exploited. Many a strong impression. I took a lot of photos of the land and i will put a lot on Facebook and some here. But the vibration and situation in the camp I felt was a bit like when i was in the primary school I didn't like it then and didn't like it much this time either. Under the pretext of being experienced protesters some "elite" of those more experienced has made a program of how to organise it effectively. They basically have it given that its all about "fight" and strategies... I feel The concept "Saving Iceland" is about many ways simultaneously. I realise there must be some way of coordinating nicely and organise. But I felt the pregame going on even though it was "hyper democratic" in some anarchistic sense, it was strongly lead by the subgroup behind it. It was interesting and educating but hard, not only on me but most of those not "trained into it" or used to it "tricks", just like a military training as I imagine it to be. Icelanders don't have an army so its perhaps one of the reasons very few Icelanders are there. But many a beautiful soul is there trying to do their best to be of some use changing this world to a better place. Wish it would be more holistic. The most beautiful part of Saving Iceland project I have experienced is this on Lækjartorg on Saturdays "Food not war" or something that stile, where they give food to anybody hungry and chat with them about whatever... well I guess mostly about the takeover of the Aluminium bandits in Iceland etc. Secondly I also like what they are doing on Internet. Shearing more reliable facts of the situation. The "battle camp" is impressive and then that's it. Beside they have fun. Like on this photo here. I like them. Well some of them seem not like me and some feel I am not sticking to the rules how to speak and when. I feel there should be less rules and more true expression. But I know they will give hundred reasons for way I was newer really allowed to speak and nearly always made wrong whatever I said up there in these endless circles and way the same people talked all the time in this "super democracy" under constant time pressure. Well meant perhaps but not very attractive and open to suggestions. Reminded me a bit on the system we are trained in and have learned to take for granted. I would not want to live in a tribe or a family run with this stile. My experience with Ting-gatherings gives me the possibility to compare these two ways of communicating. I know there are a bit different situations. But both Ting and Saving Iceland run camps and make decisions and do things. Act. And the Ting way is for lishening to the heart. And nobody needs to learn anything for to be lishened to in a circle there. Everybody is heard. And all good ideas get some helpers. Hope Saving Iceland group will get better and better and more and more creative in the task of Saving this land from troubled ways. And I thank them for what they have been doing in the past. They have at least reminded many of the troubles we are all facing and given out much better and truer information than the traditional media put out. Only this bothered me not to be more open to more variational tactics. This to deliberately provoke the laws and "fight" the police bothered me... as this has been done a lot now with very little result except small delays and relatively bad response from the press (well last press-release was perhaps not so bad but relatively neutral what i have seen) and Icelanders in general, those i have talked to at least about this. Would like to see them make more arty and funny happening, in between at least... (I like the clown army approach, horrible to hear what the police did last year on Snorrabraut, but bad for their reputation and trust) Many many nice things they do and I hope they will do good things in the future. Good people. I feel they are doing the best they can, but can learn to make it more spontaneous and joyful and inspiring and find more ways of expressing themselves with the same emphasis on spreading closer to the truth information.
